Privacy Policy
This explains what we collect, why we collect it, who inside the network can see it, and how to have it removed.
Last updated
This document is a working draft describing how MBH&Co operates. It has not yet been reviewed by legal counsel and is not legal advice.
What this covers
This policy applies to mbhandco.com and to the MBH&Co private business network. It explains what we collect, why, who can see it, how long we keep it, and how to have it removed.
What we collect
We collect only what an application and a membership actually require.
- Application information you provide: your name, business name, role, contact details, category, services, the clients you work with, what you can offer other members, and what you are looking for.
- Supporting material you choose to submit, such as a website, company registration details or references.
- Account information if you are admitted: sign-in identity, profile content, circle membership, and the introductions you request or receive.
- Technical information collected automatically: pages visited, referring site, approximate region, device and browser type, and the campaign parameters in the link you arrived on.
- Messages you send us through a form on this site.
Why we collect it
Application and membership information is used to verify that a business is real and in good standing, to decide whether a category seat is available, and to match members to introductions that make commercial sense. Technical information is used to understand which pages bring qualified applications, and to keep the site working.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Who can see it
Application information is seen only by the people at MBH&Co who review applications. It is not visible to members.
Once you are a member, the profile you build is visible to other verified members inside the network. You control what goes in it. Your contact details are not released to another member without your consent to a specific introduction.
Nothing about a member — name, firm, category, or the fact of membership — is published publicly unless that member has explicitly agreed to it in writing for that specific use.
Matching
The "Give" and "Ask" information in your member profile is used to suggest introductions to other members. That is its purpose, and it is why we ask for it. A suggestion never releases your details: an introduction happens only after both sides have seen the reason and agreed.
We send transactional email you have asked for: confirmation that an application was received, updates on its progress, introduction requests, and notices about your membership.
Marketing email is separate and optional. You are never required to accept it in order to apply, and consent to it is requested on its own. Every marketing message carries a working unsubscribe link and our identifying information, as required under Canada’s anti-spam legislation.
Analytics and consent
This site uses privacy-respecting analytics to count page views and measure which pages lead to qualified applications. Analytics load only after you have consented, and no personally identifying information — no name, no email address, no application content — is ever sent to an analytics provider.
You can withdraw analytics consent at any time from the link in the site footer.
How long we keep it
Application information for applicants who are not admitted is kept for up to 24 months, so that we can recognise a returning applicant and so a waitlisted firm can be contacted when a seat opens. Member information is kept for the duration of membership and for a reasonable period afterwards for legal and accounting purposes. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and withdraw consent to any optional use of it. Write to us and we will respond within 30 days. Deleting your data ends any membership it supports.
Storage and third parties
The site and member data are hosted with third-party providers, some of which store data outside Canada. We use providers only where they are contractually bound to protect the information to a comparable standard. Providers currently in use include our hosting platform and our membership and content platform.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects how member information is used, notify members directly.
Managing your choices
Analytics consent is stored in your browser and can be withdrawn at any time. .
To request a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted, write to us using the form on the application page. Deleting your data ends any membership that depends on it.
